It’s like Purim and Roshashone, Sugar Festival and Christmas all in one: Yiddish Summer Weimar’s Shimon Peres Award Winners’ Project is back with a new program, and this year they are joined by the Caravan Choir – which, like the orchestra, performs a blend of Yiddish and Arabic music. It doesn’t get more multicultural than this: music students from Germany from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds meet Jewish, Christian and Muslim Israelis from Haifa and the surrounding region. They have all joined the Caravan Orchestra because of the great music, captivating sounds and unique atmosphere the ensemble creates, and because it is a forum for open-minded musical and social interaction. In 2019, its third year, the Caravan Orchestra will explore new soundscapes, finding ever new links between the apparently different religious and cultural worlds of Europe and the Middle East. This summer, the Caravan Orchestra will breathe new life into music from period of the British Mandate in Palestine. Expect a spontaneous, groove-filled, intoxicating evening!
