For seven intense days, participants worked with an international team of instructors from the USA, Canada and Austria to discover how traditional Yiddish music from the early 20th century might sound at the beginning of the 21st. What role do innovation and tradition, historical sound and high-definition sound play? How can historical recordings help us better understand the language of klezmer music? At this final concert, instructors and participants will show us the answers they found to these questions. An evening full of surprises, as multifarious as the participants themselves (who hail from all corners of the globe). With sounds both familiar and original produced by a unique combination of instruments, the performers lift the voice of tradition into the cultural landscape of the 21st-century Weimar Republic of Yiddishland.
